Clean Water in the Chesapeake Bay

Clean water is an important element of urban social justice and the well-being of human communities. It is also a major component of a healthy working ecosystem. Clean water supports healthy people and healthy nature. Support our clean water work in the Chesapeake Bay!

Urban Agriculture in Baltimore

Green spaces contribute hugely to mental and social well-being. Building these green spaces in urban communities is a matter of social justice and a critical component of community health. Locally grown food also builds food security and alleviates the problem of food deserts. Support our urban agriculture and green space work in Baltimore! Two examples are our work with people who inspire us Atiya Wells and her team at BLISS Meadows who are bringing agriculture and a nature experiences to communities in the City and efforts with Marvin Hayes at Filbert Street Community Garden to help expand his amazing work on composting natural waste streams for urban farm fertilizer and beneficial soil inputs (he calls his compost “Black gold”).

Sustainable Agriculture & Environmental Cleanup in Puerto Rico

Building resilience in island communities requires capacity for locally producing enough nutritious food. Healthy environments support healthy human communities! Support our sustainable agriculture and environmental cleanup work in Puerto Rico. A couple examples are our work on off-grid solar powered refrigeration and solar powered pumps for vital water and energy for farms as well as working on food resilience through utilizing waste streams for high quality fertilizers and soil amendments.

Clean Water in Hawai’i

Healthy oceans and healthy coastal communities rely on clean water. Hawai’i is in the process of converting from environmentally toxic cesspools to sustainable water treatment systems. Ridge to Reefs is working on projects to keep sediment and wastewater out of coral reefs and coastal areas — including helping find green infrastructure solutions for cesspools and contributing to advancing sustainable agriculture with partners like James Simpliciano and Winsome Williams of the La Kāhea Project empowering youth in regenerative agriculture. Support our clean water work in Hawai’i!

Sustainable Agriculture and Clean Water in Palau

Island communities rely on sustainable agriculture and clean water for resilience and health. In Palau, reducing sediment runoff and working with sustainable growing methods are the major parts of these efforts. Support our clean water and sustainable agriculture work in Palau!
